Description
The Red Ruffle Azalea is a small, compact, round shrub. These particular Azaleas have a very formal and elegant bloom. The blooms are gorgeous throughout the spring. Red Ruffles are also known to have a second bloom (not as heavy) in the fall. They have a bounty of delicate, bright violet-red flowers that are about 3” in diameter.
The leaves of the Red Ruffle are dark and lengthy. These leaves have a more distinct pointed tip at the end than other Azalea leaves. As it matures, the foliage takes on a dark hunter-green color. The leaves also become somewhat leathery in appearance. This Azalea is dwarf to mid-size, and reaches about 3-5 feet in height and spread.
Red Ruffle Azaleas require very little maintenance. They prefer partial shade and rich, acidic well-drained soil. It is recommended that you water on a regular basis and use a high-quality slow-release fertilizer to keep your azaleas blooming. In order to maintain shape, we suggest a light pruning from time to time. Whether you are using the Red Ruffle Azalea as a standalone shrub or in mass quantity it will add the eye-catching appeal you are seeking!
